Best tools to monitor your business reputation online

Lizz Clarke • 4 July 2019

With so much business being carried out online and customers having the ability to discuss their experiences in forums, via reviews and on social media, it has never been more important for a business to know what people are saying about it online.

Fortunately there are now many useful tools which you can use to monitor your business reputation online. Knowing what people are saying can help you to counteract any negative or unfounded comments, and also take action by changing a product or service which people are unhappy with.

Here is a quick round-up of some of the best tools for tracking your online business reputation, but if you’d like any help with monitoring your reputation the team here at LCM Marketing would also be happy to assist.

Google Alerts

Google Alertsis a great free tool which you can set up for yourself. To monitor your business reputation, try setting one up using your company name as the search term. You will then receive daily email notifications every time your business name is mentioned by someone online.

Social Mention

Social Mention is a great tool for tracking what people are saying about your business on social media. It tracks more than 80 social media platforms including all of the major ones such as Twitter and Facebook.

It doesn’t just tell you where or when you are mentioned but also looks at whether the mentions are positive or negative, how many people are talking about your brand and if people are talking about you repeatedly.

SentiOne

SentiOnegives you historical mentions as well as current ones online and you can use it to track your brand but also other keywords or your social profiles. It searches thousands of websites to find mentions but you can filter keywords and results to help narrow the information down.

Review Push

This toolprovides an online method to manage and monitor reviews of your business where they appear on social media and review sites. You get to see all the reviews in one place and you can respond to them directly through the platform.

Meltwater

Meltwaterstarted life as a press cutting service but now it has grown into a large monitoring tool. It includes press monitoring and social media monitoring, with real time analysis of all mentions.

While you can search yourself for your brand name or company name, the chances are you won’t find every mention of your business, which is why tools like those highlighted here can be worth investing in – and some are free.

All businesses want to optimise revenue. Your business strategy will identify ways of driving revenue; your marketing team will generate awareness and leads; your sales team looks at the most effective ways of converting leads to sales, and then your customer service helps to keep customers buying. Another key factor to consider is your brand.

If someone you trusted said to you, “I think we should rebrand”, what would be your first thought? Maybe panic, fear and an overwhelming feeling of not knowing where to even begin? You are not alone. A rebrand can seem like a mammoth task and one that you may think you just don’t have the time for, but you might be missing a trick.

From a young age we grow up immersed at Christmas in a fairy tale world of elves, reindeers and sleighs, and the ubiquitous image of a man in a red suit squeezing himself down our chimneys. As adults we still get excited about the magic of Christmas, the hope it brings and the joy of being a part of something magical.
